The following information is borrowed from http://www.vancouveryoga.com/namaste
In Sanskrit the root "Nam" means bending, bowing, humbly submitting and becoming silent.
The word "Namas" means "bow, or reverential salutation."
"Te" means "to you."
So if you simply put it all together "namaste" means "I bow to you."
Their are many derivations of word Namaste as it is translated to
English
My favorite is in this Napalese greeting;
"I honour that place in you where the
whole Universe resides. And when I am in that place in me and you are
in that place in you, there is only one of us."
2. Who am I?
My name is Steve Quinn
I am an Electronic Engineering Technologist techno geek who has
recently turned more into a minimalist/buddhist.
My friends and work associates consider me to be a tree-hugging,
alternative thinking naturalist kinda weirdo
I just call it being open minded :-)
3. Why have I created this site?
From my humble experience, I feel a large percentage of Westerners
have been intentionally blinded through consumerism.
It seems they have forgotten how to take care of themselves or their
environment.
I created these pages in hope to act as an information resource for
alternative thinkers in training.
4. A little disclaimer regarding info on this site
I have to be perfectly honest with you, I am not an expert in
any of the many Alternative Modalities.
I am a humble Bhuddist who's intent is only to help the Earth and its
precious inhabitants.
If you find any contradictions or errors in these pages, please assist
